螺蛳粉儿配奶酪面包？这个法国女孩真奇怪……

　　故乡是什么？

　　故乡是思念，是回忆，是魂牵梦绕的地方，

　　那里有童年，有梦想，有足迹，有希望。

　　对于大多数人而言，故乡有着独特的含义，

　　那是一个我们称作“家”的地方，

　　那里承载着我们成长的点滴，

　　见证着我们从稚嫩走向成熟。

　　而对于拥有中法双重文化背景的丹凤（Katherin）而言，

　　法国是她的故乡，但北京早已成为了她的第二个“家”。

　　她见证了北京的发展，北京也见证了她的成长。

　　中国的思维方式与行为习惯，

　　早已在潜移默化中融入她的基因，

　　邂逅北京，欢度无忧童年

　　It was a simple residential district, just like any other you would find nowadays within Beijing’s Fourth Ring Road, but just a little bit more Westernized due to the heavy influence of the embassies nearby.

　　当时，三里屯只是一个简单的住宅区，就像如今北四环路的住宅区一样，但因为三里屯附近有很多大使馆，所以带着点儿西方风情。

　　再遇北京，重识活力梦想

　　I came back here a few years later, in 2009, after spending five years away due  to my father’s job. The Beijing of 2009 was completely different from the city  of my 2002 memories. It became a vibrant, dynamic,and youthful city, where people came to find hope and where dreams were made true.

　　几年后，也就是2009年，我又回到了北京。在那之前由于我父亲换了工作，我离开了北京五年。2009年的北京和我记忆中2002年的北京完全不同，它变成了一个活力满满、青春洋溢的城市，人们在这里追逐希望，实现梦想。

　　For me, Beijing is the place where I grew up, where my most cherished memories were made, and where I became the person I am today. It taught me the values that the city depicts, including fairness, dedication and humility.

　　于我而言，北京是我从小长大的地方，我最宝贵的记忆都来自于这里。它使我成长为今日之我，并教给我这座城市所展示的价值观——公平、奉献和谦逊。

　　北京为家，蜕变身心归属

　　I came back in 2009 during the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, and can still remember that day.

　　我在2009年回到北京的时候，正值中华人民共和国成立60周年庆典期间。直到现在，我还记得那年的10月1日国庆节。

　　As I stood outside, contemplating Beijing’s autumn, I realized that Beijing was meant to be the place I would call home.

　　我站在外面思索着北京的秋天时意识到，过去只是一个地名的北京，如今注定要被我唤作“家”了。

　　And I wasn’t wrong. Thirteen years later I am still here, finishing my studies and planning for my future career. I spent more than half of my life living in a country different from my own nationality, and grew up to become almost similar to the locals. The way I think, the way I talk, the way I behave,  all became more and more Chinese.

　　事实也的确如此。13年后我还在这里，完成学业并计划着未来的职业。我一半的人生都在一个与我的国籍不同的国家度过，我也几乎变得和当地人没什么不同。我的思维方式、说话方式、行为方式都越来越中国化了。

　　感谢中国，拥抱纷呈文化

　　The other day, I was talking to this French student who grew up in Paris. He told me: “Even though you are French, you speak good French, and you grew up within a French environment, you still act very Chinese.” So I asked him why. He said: “You never complain. One detail that makes a person French is that they complain all the time about everything. But I’ve never seen you complaining about anything.”

　　某天，我和在巴黎长大的法国同学聊天，他告诉我：“虽然你是法国人，说着一口流利的法语，并且在法国的文化下长大，但你依旧很像中国人。”我问他为什么，他答道：“你从不抱怨。法国人性格中的一个细节，就是他们一直在抱怨所有事情，但我从来没有见你抱怨过什么。”

　　I still consider myself very French, but also pretty Chinese. It doesn’t bother me to eat Luosifen’er with aside of bread and cheese and to speak Chinglish with my friends. At the end of the day, China opened its arm and welcomed me when I was still a little kid. It saw me grow up to become the young adult I am nowadays, and now, it’s my turn to give back.

　　我觉得自己还是非常法式的，但同时又挺像中国人的。我可以吃螺蛳粉儿配上面包奶酪，还可以和朋友们说中式英语。最后我想说，当我还是个小孩子时，中国张开双臂拥抱了我，她见证着我一路成长为如今的自己。现在，是我给予回报的时候了。

　　My life in China: 13 years later I have no complaints

　　My earliest memory of China dates back to when I was 5 years old, walking in the streets of Sanlitun, on an early morning of September. My kindergarten was several blocks away from what we currently know as the Bar Street, or Jiubajie. But at that time, Sanlitun was far more different to the vibrant, fashionable place we currently know.

　　我最早关于中国的记忆，可以追溯到五岁那年。那是一个九月初的清晨，我走在北京三里屯大街上。我就读的幼儿园离现在的酒吧街只有几个街区的距离。不过，那时的三里屯远不像今日这般，充满着活力与时尚气息。

I didn’t go to the Tiananmen Square, I could feel the excitement within the people watching the celebration live. Even though the live broadcast left me astonished, it was only a few years later that I truly became aware of the efforts that were put into making of the celebration.

　　我在2009年回到北京的时候，正值中华人民共和国成立60周年庆典期间。直到现在，我还记得那年的10月1日国庆节。我并没有去天安门广场，但是，即使当时北京的大街小巷一片安静，我在观看庆典直播时，还是能感受到全国人民在电视机前的激动心情。虽然电视直播的庆典内容让当时的我感到十分震惊，但我是在几年之后，才真切地意识到，人们为了准备庆典付出了多少努力。

　　I checked online a couple of days ago and was blown away by the numbers: 40 million pots of flowers were placed on the Chang An Avenue, 2 million national flags were used, and 800,000 volunteers were present on that day. As I stood outside, contemplating Beijing’s autumn, I realized that Beijing was meant to be the place I would call home.

　　前几天我上网查了一下，被搜索结果里的数字震惊了：那天，长安街摆放了4000万盆鲜花，使用了200万面国旗，有80万名志愿者在场。我站在外面思索着北京的秋天时意识到，过去只是一个地名的北京，如今注定要被我唤作“家”了。

　　I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not, but that proves that environment really changes a person.

　　Growing up as a third-culture kid, I am extremely grateful for all the values, different cultures have taught me. I still consider myself very French, but also pretty Chinese. It doesn’t bother me to eat Luosifen’er with aside of bread and cheese and to speak Chinglish with my friends. At the end of the day, China opened its arm and welcomed me when I was still a little kid. It saw me grow up to become the young adult I am nowadays, and now, it’s my turn to give back.So if there’s anything I would like to say is Zhongguo, Xiexie Ni.

　　在多重文化的背景下成长，我非常感激不同的文化所赋予我的价值观和教给我的东西。我觉得自己还是非常法式的，但同时又挺像中国人的。我可以吃螺蛳粉儿配上面包奶酪，还可以和朋友们说中式英语。最后我想说，当我还是个小孩子时，中国张开双臂拥抱了我，她见证着我一路成长为如今的自己。现在，是我给予回报的时候了。我只想说：中国，谢谢你。
